“Gratitude turns what you already have into enough”
Hey Gorgeous Goddess,
Today I want to talk about gratitude! In this article we are diving into what gratitude is, why it is so important and how you can start your very own daily gratitude practice. Plus, I share my personal gratitude list to give you a little inspiration and motivation.
What Is Gratitude?
Gratitude is a thankful appreciation. If someone is practicing gratitude it means they are acknowledging the goodness in their lives.
Why Is Gratitude So Important?
Having an attitude of gratitude is the key to happiness. Starting each day with a thankful heart can completely change your life in the most positive way! When you appreciate the little things, it changes your perspective and turns what you already have into more than enough. Gratitude opens our eyes to the blessings we have in our life.
I can notice the difference in myself when I am not practicing gratitude daily. I become more negative and ungrateful. I tend to focus more on the things I don’t have and life in general feels heavier and harder.
When you consciously choose to start your day with a thankful heart, you feel more positive emotions and cherish good experiences. It can help you improve your health and build strong relationships with the people around you; it can even help you to move through challenges with more ease.
How To Start A Daily Gratitude Practice?
If you already have a gratitude practice, then I can’t encourage you enough to keep going! If this is all new to you then start today sista, it’s super easy to do!
Buy yourself a beautiful journal, diary or notebook that will inspire you to write. I’m talking about the kind that have starts and suns and moons and all things pretty on them. Have a look in Kiki K, Typo or at the stunning range by The Intrinsic Way. You might even find a gem at Kmart!
Each morning, before you start your day, write down at least 3 things that you are grateful for. Sometimes I even like to set a timer for 60 seconds and write down every single thing that pops into my mind. This can be a fun little activity to kick-off the day, or you may like to take your time and very mindfully write in detail about your top 3 things as you sip on some herbal tea.
Tips: You can do this practice sitting in your bed, at the breakfast table or you may even like to take it outside. Sometimes I like to take my tea and journal with me into the garden so I can breathe in some fresh air and enjoy the morning sunshine while I write out my gratitude list for the day.
NOTE: If you are conscious of using paper, you don’t HAVE to write them down! You can type them into the notes section on your phone or even just close your eyes and say them in your mind. Do what works for YOU, however I find the exercise most powerful when I write them down with intension.
