Today I want to share one of my absolute favourite books on health with you. As an ex-fad dieter, highly-restrictive eater and body shammer I have felt very, very reluctant to share this post… however I have recently taken a massive leap forward on my own wellness journey and as always I promise to be open and honest with you and share the tips, tricks, tools and resources I personally use to lead a happy and healthy life.
About four years ago, when I began my healing journey I discovered a fantastic book on gut health called The Body Ecology Diet through my beautiful soul sister Jodie. It changed my life and at the time I had never felt so healthy and full of energy. However after having my two beautiful bubbas my hormones went through a roller-coaster ride, which triggered many of my gut related issues again.
At the beginning of April this year I decided to really focus on healing my gut once again using the 7 principles of the Body Ecology Diet. I am a true believer in eating everything in moderation and I’m very aware of the importance of bio-individuality… which is why FAD-DIETS DON’T WORK and I will NEVER promote that way of eating EVER!
The Body Ecology Diet is different, it focuses on healing the body, not harming it and I am a strong advocate for this, especially for those of you that suffer with gut related issues, including food intolerances, leaky gut, candida, SIBO, digestive discomfort, poor energy, weak immunity, allergies and even mood swings… just to name a few.
After being on Stage 1 of the diet for about 2 weeks I woke up one morning with ZERO bloating! For me this is amazing!!! Then I did something that I haven’t done in a very long time and I weighed myself. I really don’t promote use of the scales, but I was curious… I felt lighter.
My body happily and easily stays around 45-46kg and has done so for the past four years without any restrictive dieting or over-exercising. By simply changing my way of eating and nothing else for 2 weeks I managed to eliminate ALL bloating, my digestive system feels soooo much better and even though weight-loss was not on my agenda I actually lost 4kg in the first 2 weeks and now weigh 42kg… all without feeling hungry or low on energy once! In fact I have more energy now then I have had in the past 2 years!!!
Now girls… DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF TO ME!!! We are all unique, we are all going to have different results and numbers (if you’re tracking them). The MOST IMPORTANT THING is to tune into your body and assess how you feel!

The Body Ecology Diet book is really comprehensive, Donna Gates is a woman with a wealth of knowledge that was way ahead of her time when she wrote the first manuscript of this book. I recommend keeping a notebook, pen and highlighter close by because you’ll want to be taking down some serious notes. Trust me!
